I'm just a poor redneck living in Los Angeles, trying to continue the hobby of "shade tree mechanic" to the best of my abilities. My Current projects marked for electric conversion stand as this: '25 t-bucket.

This is not only my first time taking on an EV project, but also my first time writing a blog. Motor was lost long ago. I am leaning towards a golf cart or forklift motor. All the Golf cart motors I have been finding on the net are either 10 or 19 spline. Golf cart motor ? Forklift motor? 36/48 volt.

Removed intake manifold, starter motor, and all remaining accessories. Got home too late to do anything but blog about my electric car! 4 hours of work, $30 earned, 75 pounds removed from vehicle. 9/22/2011: Drained Oil, bought special tools, removed remaining portion of cylinder heads. 9/23/2011: Worked at my real job.

The reason of this blog is however to concentrate on the electric pedicabs. While the industry is unregulated some of the lads started using electric motors (hub motors) similar to those produced by golden motor and run these pedicabs on the lead acid or gel batteries. Wish them all the best with getting on the project.

I don't therefore need a high voltage motor, so I can keep my costs down. A 144v motor set up could get my car to 130km/h, but when will I need that? So when EV secrets tells me that a 48v motor can get my car to 50km/h, I think that would be less on a hilly island. This blog also exists at [link]. looks nice.

It has been about 5 months since I posted my first blog about converting my car to electricity. For tachometer, I will be using a sensor ring on the second shaft end of the motor connected to a new instrument. Picking a Motor: I have spent many nights deciding on motors.
