The Fast-E project, co-financed by the European Union and nine companies, has officially launched , with the objective of installing 241 fast-charging charging stations in Germany and 37 in Belgium. A sister project between the Czech Republic and Slovakia will add another 30 charging stations.

On 1 June, two members of Honda’s European Research & Development (R&D) team will set out on the journey from Aalst, Belgium. Under the rules of the title attempt, the same two drivers must be in the car for every kilometer of the journey. If successful, the new record will apply to all cars, including hybrid and electric models.

The partners also point out that cutting congestion will make roads safer by reducing the stress drivers experience when sitting in a traffic jam or in stop-and-go traffic.
