Concept – The VW Up doesn’t make its debut until next year, but it has already been surpassed in the innovation stakes by the lithium-ion battery powered e-Up which will have a top speed of 84mph, move from 0-62mph in 11.3seconds and have a range of about 80miles. GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. 1,000 pre-orders for small production runs in 2009 and 2010starting 4th quarter 2009.
