Controlled Power Technologies (CPT) is developing a 48-volt version of its 12 volt electric supercharger based on its variable torque enhancement system known as VTES. At 48 volts, a VTES electric supercharger will transform 7kW of battery power into a highly boosted charge of air for downsized gasoline and diesel engines.

Exceeding its initial program targets, the plug-in 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid ( earlier post ) has earned an electric-mode fuel economy rating of 84 miles-per-gallon-equivalent (MPGe) from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The score relates to a vehicle’s combined performance on fuel economy and greenhouse-gas emissions.

Using the supplied Porsche Universal Charger (AC), the traction battery can be charged with a conventional wall plug in seven hours from a 10A-rated, fused power socket a US 110 Volt household electrical supply, for example. E-Power mode is the default operating mode at start-up, as long as the battery is sufficiently charged.

The 2022 Bolt EUV has a 65 kilowatt-hour (kWh) lithium-ion battery powering a single 150 kW motor that produces 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The cord has a changeable plug that allows owners to plug into a standard 120-volt three-prong outlet for Level 1 charging or a 240-volt outlet for Level 2 charging.
