The facility is expected to provide high-capacity 4680 battery cells to American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla. Panasonic has adopted a number of aggressive targets for its battery production activities.

Increasing battery production at Giga Nevada would likely help Tesla increase its vehicle production capacity and benefit from the Inflation Reduction Act’s (IRA) electric vehicle (EV) tax credits.
