Just a few months after the launch, Porsche is expanding its charging service for plug-in and electric vehicles ( earlier post ) by five countries and additional functions. A new feature offered by the Porsche Charging Service is a rating function. In Germany, the fee for using the Porsche Charging Service is €2.50 (US$2.86) per month.

Beginning in September, all new vehicles with Porsche Communication Management (PCM 3.1) and the option “online services”—now available free of charge in Europe—can be connected with a smartphone and access a new real-time new traffic service without any additional charge. The service is available in 14 European countries.

In addition to updates for phones , tablets , and TVs , Google has a number of Android Auto and Automotive announcements at CES 2024, including a Chrome app. Android Auto is getting deeper integration wherein electric vehicles can share real-time battery information with Google Maps. It will see wider availability later this year.

The new Porsche 911 Carrera features a set of new engines that increase power and torque while also decreasing fuel consumption. The active rear-axle steering that is available as an option for the 911 Carrera S is chassis technology adopted from the 911 Turbo and 911 GT3. Both engines have a displacement of three liters.

BEV owners in particular use their app at least 68% of the time, primarily to monitor the charging process and to view their vehicle’s available range. PP100 gap exists between vehicles that have an Android Automotive OS without Google Automotive Services (51.1 Porsche (167 PP100) ranks second and Cadillac (170 PP100) ranks third.

Gravity, a New York-based EV charging startup backed by Google Ventures, claims to be rolling out the fastest chargers in the U.S. Charging is available seven days a week, with on-site attendants and a tap-and-pay interface, according to Gravity. Porsche has pointed to 400 kw charging in future models, for instance.
