Out of 82 BEVs and PHEVs that are either currently available for sale in the US, or expected to be so by the end of 2022, 67 of them, or 81.7%, have a base manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) higher than $39,999, according to new analysis from EVAdoption. Still, the LEAF’s starting price of $28,000 makes it one of the most affordable models available today… as long as you find somewhere that has CHAdeMO charging. Even without federal tax credits, the 2025 Nissan LEAF arrives as the most affordable new BEV on the market now that the Chevy Bolt has been shelved for a relaunch.

Survey results show that 65% of American drivers would be in support of lawmakers’ efforts to make diesel more accessible to the American public; 66% of drivers think the government should offer a tax incentive on clean diesel vehicles. The objective is to reward efficiency, and diesel is an efficient alternative available today.
