General Motors. Ford Escape sales totaled 20,241, a July record and up 94% versus a year ago, and Mercury Mariner sales were up 71%. The 2009 model Escape Hybrid and Mariner Hybrid are the most fuel-efficient utility vehicles in America. Hybrids had an especially good month, with reported sales jumping 31.8%

And with Ford, the Escape PHEV is classified as an SUV, but the Lincoln Corsair PHEV which is based on the Escape, is not. A phaseout of the tax credit occurred over several quarters down to zero.

The IIHS updates its testing protocols, whips a few automobiles into the wall, and comes to the conclusion that the whole industry needs to improve safety. Only the Ford Explorer, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford Escape, Subaru Ascent, Tesla Model Y, and Volvo XC40 passed with full marks. You should know how the game works by now.
