Honda last week announced key targets for sales of electrified vehicles in North America, with a plan to make battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicles (BEVs and FCEVs) to represent 100% of its vehicle sales by 2040, progressing from sales of 40% by 2030 and 80% by 2035. Seeking to slash CO 2 emissions from its North American manufacturing operations, Honda has entered into long-term virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs) for renewable wind and solar power that will cover more than 60% of the electricity that Honda uses in North America. will deliver to the grid by the end of 2020.

California Governor Brown’s 2012 Executive Order B-16-2012 directed the CPUC and other state agencies to establish benchmarks to help achieve the build-out of Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure capable of supporting up to one million vehicles, and to integrate Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) charging into the state’s electricity grid by 2020.
