Ford announced on Wednesday that it will begin making electric vehicles based on a next-generation architecture in Spain later this decade. Ford believes the Valencia, Spain plant is the ideal location for making cars with a next-generation EV architecture and plans to produce the vehicles later this decade.

Ford launched the latest engine in its expanding EcoBoost family at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, back in September. At only one-liter in capacity, it's the smallest EcoBoost yet, and continues the downsizing trend seen with the other EcoBoost units.

Ford has confirmed that the first production applications for the new 1.0-liter, liter, 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine ( earlier post ) will be three models in the European product range: first the Focus, followed by C-MAX and the all-new Ford B-MAX.
