We noted in December that the Society of Automotive Engineers, or SAE, was working to update standards for the interface between plug-in electric cars and the grid, and planned to agree on a set within months. As March came to a close, the Obama administration found GM and Chrysler’s restructuring plans “not viable.” At the same time, the value to the economy and environment of a major push for plug-in cars as part of the recovery hasn’t sunk in at the top.
