Locked in for a mid-2024 arrival in Australia, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is timed to arrive along with a comprehensive refresh of the rest of the Taycan range, although the new flagship model won’t come cheap, priced at $416,600 plus on-roads. A striking striped wrap in Volt Blue, Black or matte Black will also be available.

Aside from the truly shocking fact that a government, in Australia, actually passed some legislation aimed at making EVs more attractive and affordable to both companies and actual humans, the biggest surprise to me this year was the Genesis GV70 Electrified. If it wasn’t so stupidly expensive (around $100K, at least), I’d buy one.

While it’s not cheap, the EV9 comes loaded with equipment and technology to help justify a circa-$100K starting price when it arrives in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Recharging is 11kW for AC charging, and up to 150kW for DC charging, with the bZ4X running a 400-volt architecture. But it’s cheap for the first five years, at $180 per visit. seconds, while the AWD punches its card at 6.9sec.

Not cheap, but it ups the racy ambience. The roomier Taycan Cross Turismo with its 405 litre boot isn’t coming in GTS guise to Australia, though it exists in other markets. The GTS’s 800-volt electric charge system means at a 350kW public charger the battery can go from 5-80 percent in 22.5 minutes ‘under ideal conditions.’
