GM reported a total of 1,020 hybrid sales, down 25.5% The Saturn Aura sold 29 units, down 17%, for 2.0% Total sales were down 3% to 74,003 units. Sales of the Civic Hybrid were down sharply, dropping 77% to 243 units, for 1.8% of all Civic sales. However, the new dedicated hybrid Insight posted 1,403 units. from November 2008.

In an online blog, General Motors’ (GM) vice chairman Tom Stephens stated that the company will apply plug-in hybrid technology to one of its four core brands followings its’ restructuring. GM is planning initial delivery of plug-in hybrid vehicles for use in fleets to the DOE and EPRI in 2011.

GM reported a total of 1,454 hybrid vehicles delivered in the month, up 26.5% GM hybrids currently comprise the Chevrolet Malibu, Saturn Aura and Vue BAS hybrids; and the Tahoe, Silverado, Yukon, Sierra, and Cadillac Escalade two-mode hybrids. Overall, GM light-duty vehicle sales in June were down 33.4% General Motors.
