The Prius Prime becomes Toyota’s leader with a plug. Toyota’s Prius Prime and RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrids are distinguished from the standard Prius and RAV4 and seem to have found a sales niche. Mitsubishi finally brought the a plug-in hybrid version of its Outlander SUV to the U.S. and has had some success.

In addition to a recent electric car deal with NISSAN Motors ( NSANY ), Portland General Electric, the Oregon state governor and GE have also announced a joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors ( MMTOF.PK ) to develop and sell the Miev electric car with 85 mile range by 2011. Toyota still has not made any money on the Prius.
