Honda opened its new $124-million wind tunnel facility in Ohio, ushering in a new era of development testing capabilities for Honda and Acura products, as well as the company’s race vehicles. The list of powertrains (note we can’t say engines anymore) was fairly exhaustive—39 vehicles were evaluated with 18 of those electrified models. The range from A to V spanned the Acura TLX Type S 3.0L turbo V6 through the Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge battery-electric powertrain. The 10 finalists are not ranked in any order.

Too tall, too expensive, too electric. Give me internal-combustion and real exhaust noise and a trunk – hatchbacks have too much utility for me! My biggest beef was noise – while loud exhaust noise is baked in (and reduces a bit when the car isn’t in a performance drive mode) – the sounds coming out of the rear intrude on conversation.
