Butagaz, a leading French brand distributing gas in bottles and tanks, is partnering with Global Bioenergies to incorporate batches of bio-isobutene produced at Global Bioenergies’ demo plant as early as 2017 and later by the first commercial bio-isobutene plant once built in France.

Global Bioenergies is now entering the final phase of demonstrating its technology for converting renewable carbon into hydrocarbons. The first trials on the demo plant in Leuna were successfully completed, within schedule, in the fall of 2016 and Global Bioenergies announced first production of green isobutene via fermentation.

The California Energy Commission is issuing a solicitation ( GFO-17-901 ) to provide up to $3 million in funding for innovative, pre-commercial low-carbon fuel production processes that result in the development of bio-oil as an intermediate fuel with wide-scale adoption potential used for renewable jet fuel production.

Maersk’s investment will be used to develop further and to commercialize Vertoro’s patented liquid lignin technology, and it will enable Vertoro to build a demo plant, which will become operational in 2022. These features are later transferred to the resulting materials, fuels or chemicals, thereby greatly improving their properties.
