Construction has started on the first public hydrogen station in Belgium, to be operated by Air Liquide. Two regions of Europe are taking part in this project: the Brussels region in Belgium, and the Wer-Ems region in Germany. In the first half of 2016, Toyota will also bring the Mirai to Belgium, a fourth European market.

Umicore will build an industrial scale recycling facility for end-of-life rechargeable batteries in Hoboken, Belgium. This figure will rise to 45 % by 2016. Increasingly stringent legislation is also placing a heavy premium on the efficient and eco-friendly recycling of end-of-life materials, such as used batteries.
