The EVer (Electric Vehicle extended range) powertrain of the Fisker Karma. Fisker Automotive published its first business update, announcing that revenues had exceeded $100 million in the first four months of 2012. We are encouraged by solid demand for the Karma, our unique extended-range luxury model.

Supported by the Swedish Energy Agency and the EU, the project comprises three potential technology combinations: one a series-hybrid range extender configuration; and two parallel-hybrid range extender configurations. Tests of the concepts will get under way in the first quarter of 2012.

At the opening of Auto Guangzhou 2012, Shanghai General Motors launched its first localized new energy vehicle, the Sail SPRINGO EV. Pushing the Sport button provides a 20% boost in acceleration at the beginning and middle of the torque curve compared to pressing the accelerator in a gasoline-powered vehicle. The Sail SPRINGO EV.

Their paper was presented at the ASME Internal Combustion Engine Division 2012 Fall Technical Conference by Marcello Canova, assistant professor at OSU; lead author was Philipp Skarke, from the University of Stuttgart Institute for Internal Combustion Engines and Automotive Engineering. kW and about 27 kW at constant velocity of 65 mph.

The Karma—an extended-range electric vehicle—is scheduled to be launched in late 2010. Project Nina is expected to launch in 2012. The Fisker Karma is expected to have a range of 50 full-electric miles on a charge and a total range of 300 miles with an on-board generator turned by a 2.0L

The Chevrolet Volt extended range electric vehicle and the Ford C-MAX Hybrid earned an acceptable rating in this test, while the battery-electric Nissan LEAF earned a poor rating. The gasoline-powered Mazda 5 small four-door wagon is rated poor. Two battery- electric models and a hybrid also are in the mix, with varied results.
