In 2009, Chevrolet will further expand its LPG product range throughout Europe. Switzerland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain will offer LPG-versions in addition to the regular gasoline and diesel range. Chevrolet’s strategy is to offer LPG versions for its entire product line-up.

For the second successive year, the share of diesel vehicle sales declined and in 2016 fell below 50% of new sales—the lowest share of new sales since 2009 according to the official statistics. Registrations increased in all EU Member States except in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Slovenia.

At present, 17 of the 27 EU Member States levy CO 2 -related taxes on passenger cars, and 15 governments provide tax incentives for electrically chargeable vehicles, according to the newly published European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) Tax Guide 2010. Generally, registration taxes threaten fleet renewal.

Other actions included: In April 2009, Nissan introduced the Nissan ECO Series (NECO Series), which qualify for tax breaks under Japan’s new preferential tax scheme for environment-friendly vehicles. in the United States; and Israel, Portugal, Monaco, United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Ireland, China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
