The newly-opened station at JFK international airport is the result of a partnership between Shell, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the US Department of Energy and General Motors. A station has been operating in the City of White Plains, New York, since April 2008.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. No announced plans.
