Automaker BYD is by far China's most aggressive when it comes to electric cars.

Data gathering for the Beijing study was completed in 2008. Consequently, vehicle emissions have become an increasingly conspicuous contributor to air pollution in Chinese urban areas. 13% of passenger cars and 35% of taxis were still using carburetors. Similar studies by the partners are being done in Beijing and Shanghai.
