Goodenough was awarded the 2012 IEEE Medal for Environmental and Safety Technologies for discoveries that “paved the way for development of the rechargeable lithium-ion battery technology.” It later became the chemistry of choice for early electric cars including the 2008 Tesla Roadster. It was terrible.”

AFP Some 21m electric bicycles were sold in China in 2008, according to Frank Jamerson, author of Electric Bikes Worldwide Reports. Recharging a battery can take 5-8 hours, but costs only a few cents a day. Safe places to park and recharge are also needed. The figure has doubled since 2005.
