F-Series, America’s best-selling truck, posted an April retail sales gain of 8%—with the continued plant changeover to the new F-150 and limited supply. Kansas City Assembly, the second assembly plant building the popular new F-150, continues to ramp up production through the second quarter.

While premium brands historically perform significantly higher than non-premium brands in the APEAL Index, study findings show that the gap between the two in 2015 is the smallest it’s been in the past 10 years, narrowing by 16% since 2006. Ford (three): C-Max, Expedition and F-150. Porsche (three): Cayenne, Cayman and Macan.

Ford has just announced that its electric F-150 pickup will be called “Lightning,” bringing back a moniker that was applied to high performance F-150 versions in the past, but keeping the electric version within its best-selling brand. This behemoth will be super powerful and long range–and will be expensive too.
