announced that the 2012 Prius Plug-in has been approved for the State of California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program ( CVRP ). Designed to promote the use of Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEV) and related clean vehicle technologies, the CVRP is a consumer incentive made available in addition to a $2,500 Federal Tax credit.

Toyota has reduced the MSRP on the 2014 Prius Plug-in Hybrid by more than $2,000, making the starting MSRP $29,990 (excluding dealer preparation and handling, DPH). This price repositioning on the base Prius Plug-in Hybrid is not accompanied by any reduction in vehicle content. kWh Li-ion battery pack.

The C-MAX Energi’s 100 MPGe combined rating beats the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid’s combined EPA rating by 5 MPGe and the Chevrolet Volt’s by 2 MPGe. With a starting price of $29,995, after federal tax credit and including destination and delivery costs, Ford expects C-MAX Energi to be the US’ most affordable plug-in hybrid.

My lifetime tally is 231 mpg, which means I’ve used less than 80 gallons of gas over the car’s 42 months on the road. Toyota Prius Prime PHEV – 14,275. Buyers could still receive federal tax credits and local incentives if available. On top of that, I’m currently running at 80+% electric miles. Tesla Model Y EV – 61,022.

The federal consumer tax credit awaits major automaker cars that can claim them. The plan calls for 39 mpg for cars and 30 mpg for light trucks and SUVs by 2016; no automaker lawsuits; and California subscribes to the national program through 2016. Policies and incentives are in place that could get us there.

Pricing for the 2016 Chverolet Volt ( earlier post ) will start at $33,995 MSRP, including an $825 destination fee (excluding tax, title, license and dealer fees). Pricing will be as low as $26,495 after the full federal tax credit of $7,500. Federal tax credit can range from $0 up to $7,500.)
