People might be bored reading about the Prius but a review on four Priuses (2004, 2005, two 2006s) that my family owns that ran a total of 913k km (570k miles) should be interesting, right? We need to go back to November 2017, to the start of the ‘Prius Revolution’ in the family. This criteria only left the Prius in play.

According to statistics from the Department of Transport, US motorists are fleeing their beloved SUVs and pick-up trucks as they make up 83 per cent of the top trade-ins. Well, it seems that Americans, while not necessarily ‘over’ their love of large, gas guzzling cars, are at least taking steps in the right direction.

Although the EPA has not as of this writing released the final fuel economy numbers for the US A3 e-tron, Filip Brabec, Director, Product Management, Audi of America, said that the figures will be around 83 to 86 MPGe combined (depending on the equipment level), with 35 to 39 mpg gasoline only and 16-17 miles of EV range. The plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler isn’t like the Chevy Volt or Toyota Prius Prime: It doesn’t run first as an electric vehicle when the battery is fully charged, adding engine power only after the battery depletes. The EPA rates the 4xe at 22 miles of electric range and an unimpressive 20 mpg operating as a hybrid.
