Skyports Infrastructure, an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) infrastructure developer, and AirAsia’s Advanced Air Mobility, a dedicated unit of AirAsia Aviation Group Limited (the aviation arm of Capital A), have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to explore the development of air taxi infrastructure in Malaysia.

Bosch is working on sensor technology for air taxis. The Boston Consulting Group predicts that people around the world will take 1 billion flights in air taxis in 2030, once sharing services have also established a presence on fixed routes above the ground; most of those air taxis will be capable of operating without a pilot.

Continental technologies such as ABS, radar and redundant brake system are being used in series production for robo-taxis for first time. Continental’s braking portfolio includes suitable technologies for robo-taxis, such as the MK C1 one-box brake system. Continental has held a stake in this driverless vehicle manufacturer since 2017.

Singapore will implement a new Carbon Emissions-Based Vehicle Scheme (CEV) on 1 January 2012, providing rebates to qualified new cars, taxis, and imported used cars with low carbon emissions, and imposing an equivalent surcharge on higher emitting vehicles. CEV bandings (Singapore dollars).

AVs provide the opportunity to facilitate efficient urban and suburban vehicle sharing, autonomous bus or taxi services, logistics and long-distance truck platooning.

The NV200 was recently chosen as the next generation New York taxi ( earlier post ), with the prospects for an electric version beginning in 2017. The NV200 is available in Japan and Europe since FY2009 and China and Singapore from FY2010, and future launches are planned for the US and India. Nissan Motor Co., Japan Post Service Co.
