Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., (MHI) MHI) has delivered a large-capacity Li-ion battery energy storage system to the Shimizu Institute of Technology in Tokyo. The energy storage system, which is capable of 100 kW output with 60 kWh capacity, is currently one of the largest indoor lithium-ion battery-based systems in Japan.

GS Yuasa, the provider of the LEV50 Li-ion cell ( earlier post ) used in the battery pack for the i-MiEV, is developing a 25 Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prototype, said Dr. Masanori Kitamura from GS Yuasa’s Corporate Strategic Planning group in a presentation at the Advanced Automotive Battery Conference 2009 (AABC).
