Poland-based Romet Introduces Low-Cost NEV Prototype

Polish firm Romet presented at Intermot 2010 in Cologne a prototype of small neighborhood electric car (NEV) named 4E (Electric, Economic, Ecologic, Easy). The two-seater is powered by two BLDC motors, with total power of about 4 kW, and is powered by a Li-ion or lead-acid battery pack, with a capacity of about 10 kWh.

CTT Plans US Joint Venture with PUES for EVs; In-Wheel Motors and Rapid Chargers

The joint venture will bring a suite of EV technologies to the US, including advanced EV in-wheel direct drive motors and rapid charges. For reference, a typical lead acid battery can survive 500-800 cycles while 2,800 cycles is almost 8 years of use assuming one cycle a day. They are usually delivery vehicles working within a neighborhood, and are on the road for 6-8 hour a day and are recharged overnight. The USCAR/DOE long term goal is 5,000 cycles.
