After seeing the movie Who Killed The Electric Car , I got the nutty idea earlier this year to purchase an all-electric vehicle to commute to work. After doing some research, I found Electro Automotive out of Felton, CA and put down the $13,000 for one of their latest AC motor conversion kits for the Porsche 914.

Going Back to U-Pull-It - Don't try this at Home

I like the idea of using the TPS (throttle position sensor) on this instead of the PB-6 potbox that most people use in their EVs because I think the accelerator pedal feel will be much closer to the original. Next up: organizing the civic-ev-kit Google group to get tasks lined up. Here's the throttle body from the last car.

Hacking the Regen System and Fixing Acceleration

With my driving frustration, this seemed like a good idea. In the original kit instructions, the regen relay turns on the brake lights when the AC controller is in regen mode. I recommend this alteration to anyone using this kit! The Oregon Electric Vehicle meeting is tomorrow and EV awareness day is August 11th.
