Hawaii has awarded an $820,000 contract from the Hawaii EV Ready Grants Program to AeroVironment to fund the deployment of up to 320 AeroVironment 240-volt electric vehicle (EV) charging docks throughout the islands. Customers who purchase an EV are also eligible for a state rebate of up to $4,500.

Participating Chevrolet dealers in seven key launch markets across Canada have begun taking orders for the all-new 2012 Chevrolet Volt, with an MSRP starting at C$41,545 (US$43,568). Within twelve months of the retail launch, Volt will be available at dealerships nation-wide.

It is alarming to see comparisons of the Chevrolet Volt PHEV with battery electric cars when the comparison focuses only on the electric range and ignores the other important differences. The 2900 miles traveled by the Volt, drawing upon its combustion engine, produced far less CO 2 since the Volt uses a small and more efficient engine.

The MiEV runs on a lithium-ion battery pack that can be charged in seven or so hours on a 240-volt line. market for sustainable “green” energy purchases. Better Place is building stations in San Francisco, Hawaii, Israel, and Denmark to swap out 1,000 pound batteries in a car wash type set up.
