Under the emerging J2954 guidelines, communications for wireless charging will use DSRC. The SAE Taskforce on wireless charging and positioning of electric vehicles (SAE J2954) ( earlier post ) is progressing, and is slated to have a final draft of the guideline this year, according to the Society of Automotive Engineers, International (SAE).

Honda aims to win a new Guinness World Records title for fuel efficiency in an 8,500-mile (13,679 km) drive across all 24 contiguous EU countries in a 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engined Honda Civic Tourer. The car which attempts the record must be a standard model in every respect, with no modifications to give an advantage.

In the first quarter of next year, SAE International plans to establish a standard, integrated coupler that would allow electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (EVs/PHEVs) to be charged from either a conventional, 15-amp AC wall outlet or a DC connector of up to 90 kilowatts. Another example is the ongoing IEEE P2030.1
