at least, the recycling infrastructure for the well-established lead-acid batteries is robust. lead-acid batteries have a far better recycling rate than even aluminum bottles — over 90% of lead-acid batteries are recycled. None of the new electric cars are planning to use old-tech lead acid batteries.

One wonders if the recent headway at MIT in building lithium ion cells using ?virus? Hybrids are a proven winner, but a series-hybrid (range extended EV), such as the Volt takes things to a much higher level with existing and "mostly" affordable tech. with lithium the range would be 300 miles. Interesting in any case.
