After some significant debate at the Civic-EV Google Group on whether to use a clutched or clutch-less system, I'm going to pursue using a clutched system for the initial revision of this kit. With a clutched system, I just order the shaft and transmission adapter from Electro Auto and everything is just done.

The original CivicWithACord design used 18 8-volt golf cart batteries. After some debate on the Google Group and dealing with clutch-link interference issues, I'm tending towards 12-volt group-31 AGM batteries for the initial design. So thats disappointing. As stinky is another way of saying not healthy to breathe.

Out in the desert as part of Burning Man , our encampment, Snow Koan Solar, is setting up a solar photovoltaic EV Charging Station (at 7:30 and Desert) for electric scooters, golf carts, sofas and barstools. Feet, pedals and electric motors only will make for a much more pleasant and greener event. Google Guys Th!nk

In addition to a recent electric car deal with NISSAN Motors ( NSANY ), Portland General Electric, the Oregon state governor and GE have also announced a joint venture with Mitsubishi Motors ( MMTOF.PK ) to develop and sell the Miev electric car with 85 mile range by 2011. market b y the end of 2009. By 2011 look for a larger THINK Ox.

A very low cost EV is taking a golf cart transaxle or whole GC rear/seat and weld, ect a MC front end, frame, title to it, change the batteries from 6vdc to 12vdc to double the voltage and use larger dia VW Rabbit tires and you can have a nice 1- 3 person MC trike that goes 45-55mph and 50+ mile range.
