The first pre-production 2023 Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV has rolled off the assembly line at General Motors' Spring Hill, Tennessee, factory, GM president Mark Reuss announced Thursday on LinkedIn. GM is aiming to ship the first customer vehicles in "a few months" Reuss said.

General Motors and Lithium Americas will jointly invest to develop the Thacker Pass mine in Nevada, which is the largest known source of lithium in the United States and the third-largest in the world. Lithium Americas estimates the lithium extracted and processed from the project can support production of up to 1 million EVs per year.

Hertz and General Motors announced an agreement in which Hertz plans to order up to 175,000 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac and BrightDrop EVs over the next five years. The agreement will encompass electric vehicle deliveries through 2027 as Hertz increases the EV component of its fleet and GM accelerates production of EVs broadly.

Morgan investor conference, General Motors (GM) Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Paul Jacobson stated that the veteran automaker is still struggling with its electric vehicle production ramp. As per the CFO, Cadillac Lyriq production was at more than 1,000 units in July, far below the company’s expectations.
