At the Moscow International Automobile Salon 2014, Mitsubishi presented its four-wheel drive SUV plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the Outlander PHEV ( earlier post ); sales of the Outlander PHEV will start in Russia from September, 2014. The Outlander PHEV is the top-selling plug-in in Europe.

XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Concept. At the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Volvo Car Corporation will unveil the Volvo XC60 gasoline-electric Plug-in Hybrid Concept. To make the plug-in technology viable for buyers in the US and China, Volvo notes , it needs to feature a gasoline engine.

Volkswagen will be offering the Touareg with a new plug-in hybrid drive (270 kW/367 PS system power) in China initially.

During fiscal 2012 Mitsubishi Motors will add an EV-based Outlander model which will use a plug-in hybrid system derived from MMC’s already existing EV technology. The new Outlander will be launched first in Russia this summer, after which it will make its debut in European, Japanese, Oceania, Chinese and North American markets.
