Mitsubishi staged the North American debut of its Concept GC-PHEV (“Grand Cruiser”)—a next-generation full-size crossover plug-in hybrid. Using the energy stored within a fully charged lithium-ion battery pack alone, the Concept GC-PHEV can supply the equivalent of a days worth of electrical power consumption to the average household.

Exceeding its initial program targets, the plug-in 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid ( earlier post ) has earned an electric-mode fuel economy rating of 84 miles-per-gallon-equivalent (MPGe) from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). A large share of credit goes to the vehicle’s eFlite dual-motor electrically variable transmission (EVT).

The 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz electric minivan has been coming to North America for a long, long time. That puts it squarely into the nascent segment of mass-market 3-row electric family utilities. market only in a long-wheelbase version, VW of America having decided the standard European model was just too small.
