The cars Californians choose set the tone for EV sales for 2021. Here’s the top 10 and their sales (and links to our latest reviews/news): Tesla Model 3 EV – 67,262. Toyota Prius Prime PHEV – 14,275. The number of EVs in my neighborhood seems to be growing weekly. Tesla Model Y EV – 61,022. Chevrolet Bolt EV – 12,313.

Manufacturers can use these balances to provide flexibility in the timing and production of bringing new clean cars to the market to meet upcoming ZEV requirements. Although charging infrastructure is beginning to find its way into cities, it may be awhile until they are available in residential neighborhoods en masse.
