There are companies that are reinventing the lead-acid battery to make it more competitive with lithium-ion and nickel metal hydride in terms of storage capacity versus weight, durability, and cold weather performance. One wonders if the recent headway at MIT in building lithium ion cells using ?virus? The EV1 needs to be built with LI batteries and a REAL Assembly Line. Forget the black helicopter conspiracies. Its been improving over time, but the power density and cost issues are still steep for what exists thus far. Interesting in any case.
