Nissan is working in collaboration with Portland (Oregon) General Electric (PGE) on a six-week trial to help determine the viability of an electric commercial vehicle in the US market. If we determine that e-NV200 fits into the US commercial vehicle market, we expect that Portland would be a leading driver for sales as well.

China, the US and Europe made up the three main markets, totalling more than 90% of all EVs sold around the world. The group is currently seeking to purchase more than 110,000 EVs, a significant number when compared to the 160,000 total EVs sold in the United States in 2016. In 2005, electric cars were still measured in hundreds.

The Nissan Energy Saving Collaboration (NESCO) conducts annual surveys (starting 2003 in Japan and 2013 in Europe, Mexico and China) to measure energy loss at Nissan plants in order to develop ongoing new energy-saving countermeasures. In all, the use of clean energies accounted for 68% of the production at the Aguascalientes A1 Plant.

The Electric Island project, a collaboration between Daimler Trucks North America and Portland General Electric, will be a test bed for all kinds of heavy-duty EV charging solutions. In Europe, Daimler’s eCitaro electric bus and the Fuso eCanter Class 4 van are both in production. Electric trucks are finally starting to roll.
