November sales of plug-in hybrids passenger vehicles hit 7,333, up by 2.9% Sales of pure-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids January-November 2020 were 139,246 and 69,390, respectively, down by 19.9% GWh of power and energy storage batteries in November, up by 28.7% from October and by 127.8% on the year.

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) has approved a $5-million forgivable loan for Li-ion battery manufacturer A123 Systems contingent on its hitting job creation and private investment milestones. With the new expansion, A123 Systems will assemble and commission grid-storage battery systems in Massachusetts.

GE says the planned facility will produce approximately 10 million sodium-metal halide cells each year—equivalent to 900 MWh of energy storage, or enough to support 1,000 GE hybrid locomotives. The first application will be GE’s hybrid locomotive, which will be commercialized in 2010. 1,000 kWh useable energy.
