The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid plug-in hybrid ( earlier post ) has an operational global warming impact 31% less than that of the previous-generation, gasoline-powered Chrysler minivan, according to an analysis by FCA US engineers using industry-standard software. No minivan has ever been rated higher.

A new Conference Board of Canada report finds that Canada is unlikely to achieve an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by 2050. Canada’s road transport emissions were 40% higher in 2013 than in 1990. Canada is making progress reducing its GHG emissions and will continue to do so for the next decade.

Recall that new tax changes have applied from January 1st. Although these introduced some BEV taxes for the first time, mostly falling on heavy and expensive BEV models, taxes fell harder still on vehicles with CO2 emissions. PHEVs, with their middling emissions ratings, are taxed somewhere in between.
