Duryea Technologies (founded in 1996 under the name “eCycle” with the objective of commercializing hybrid and electric motorcycles) has developed an electric supercharger for use in the consumer and commercial vehicle markets. The electric supercharger can increase low-end torque by up to 100% for rapid acceleration.

Stony Brook University seeks to improve vehicle fuel economy with a thermoelectric generator that would capture energy previously lost through heat exhaust. The technology could increase fuel efficiency 5 to 10%. Other projects selected include: Brooklyn Motorized Corp. NYSERDA funding: $50,000. NYSERDA funding: $200,000.
