A research team led by The University of Texas at Austin has been awarded approximately $58 million to analyze methane hydrate deposits under the Gulf of Mexico. This could be analogous to gas or shale oil 20 or 30 years ago. That is more than 250 times the amount of natural gas used in the United States in 2013. —Peter Flemings.
