Source: EPRI. The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) has released a broad assessment of the costs and benefits to modernize the US electricity system and deploy the smart grid. The analysis updates EPRI’s 2004 EPRI assessment, which estimated the cost of implementing a smart grid at $165 billion.

Johnson Controls to supply Li-ion batteries for plug-in hybrid trucks in DOE project

About 120 work trucks, to be used by publicly owned utilities and municipal electric companies, will utilize advanced plug-in hybrid power systems by Odyne Systems, LLC, using Johnson Controls'' batteries. The Lithium-ion batteries for these trucks will be made at Johnson Controls’ advanced manufacturing facility in Holland, Mich.
