Rising fuel-economy standards during the 2020s will do the same. Publicity magnet Tesla said it delivered its first battery-electric Semi tractor on December 1. It has now received a Certificate of Conformity for the Semi from the EPA. This is a step that, so far, Tesla has not taken for its own Megacharger standard.
