Before its collapse and bankruptcy, Fisker had bought a former General Motors plant in Delaware. While all 2012 Fisker Karma extended-range electric luxury sedans were built in Finland, the company always intended to assemble cars in the U.S.

Project NINA is expected to be built in Wilmington, Delaware at a former General Motors assembly plant starting in 2012. Starting at $87,900 the Karma paves the way for development of lower-cost plug-in hybrid technology for a second, family-oriented car code named Project NINA.

Fisker Automotive has selected the GM Wilmington Assembly plant in Wilmington, Delaware for production for Project NINA, the development and build of a family-oriented plug-in hybrid sedan costing about $39,900 after federal tax credits.
