A GMC Hummer EV weighs over 9,000 pounds, up from about 6,000 pounds. I’m concerned about the increased risk of severe injury and death for all road users from heavier curb weights and increasing size, power, and performance of vehicles on our roads, including electric vehicles. Its gross vehicle weight rating is a staggering 10,550 pounds.

Biobased materials availability may improve over time due to the increased demand and research, however, current resources may be have predicted limits. Marketing the use of biobased materials being used in an automobile costs money and must be part of the consideration in the cost of using biobased parts.

Reynolds Buick-GMC will receive a buy-down incentive of $16,000 for two natural gas-fueled medium-duty vehicles of 8,501 to 14,000 pounds gross vehicle weight. Such incentives are designed to help pay the difference between the cost of conventional gas- or diesel-powered vehicles and new ones that use propane or natural gas.
