Toyota anticipates that the 2016 RAV4 Hybrid—unveiled earlier this year at the New York International Auto Show ( earlier post ) and the eighth hybrid in Toyota’s line-up—will receive EPA ratings of 34 mpg city / 31 mpg highway / 33 mpg combined (6.9, l/100 km, respectively) for both 2016 RAV4 Hybrid models.

Toyota unveiled the new fifth-generation Avalon at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. A wider range, specifically at the increased 8 th gear ratio, allows for improved high-speed cruising fuel economy. Toyota anticipates that the 2016 Prius ( earlier post ) will deliver fuel economy ratings of 54 MPG city / 50 MPG highway / 52 MPG combined. The 2016 Prius uses smaller, lighter hybrid components, including a new lithium-ion hybrid battery that replaces the nickel-metal hydride battery (excluding the Prius Two non-Eco grade) in most models.
