The hydrogen stations are to be built in metropolitan regions and along corridors connecting these regions, thereby supporting the initial roll-out of fuel cell vehicles. In Spain, Air Products recently provided the hydrogen for the fueling station in Barcelona, which powered a Honda FCX Clarity on a journey across the city in June.

This new station will connect up with the two fueling stations already in operation in the city supporting London’s hydrogen bus fleet, creating an infrastructure network powering hydrogen fuel cell vehicles across the city, some in time for the 2012 London Olympic Games. The journey to Mauritania also attracted me because it went through Southern Spain and Morocco, where I had never been before. Two trains a day connect Paris with the Catalan capital. Ideally, I would have liked to continue to Madrid on the same day, but there’s no late connection.
