Methanol-powered vehicles are one pillar of Geely Auto’s diversified new-energy strategy, which also encompasses ethanol, CNG, gasoline-electric hybrid, plug-in hybrid, pure-electric, and extended-range solutions. CSI says this is the world’s first production of a liquid renewable transport fuel from non-biological sources of energy.

Battery-electric bus manufacturer Proterra announced a new battery pack design for the Proterra Catalyst XR transit vehicle at the American Public Transportation Association Bus and Paratransit Conference (APTA). Proterra offers both extended-range (XR) and fast-charge (FC) versions of its electric bus, using different battery technologies.

The EPA-approved Focus Electric label also certifies that the car has a range of 76 miles on a single charge compared with the 73-mile range of the Leaf. Consumption is 34 kWh/100 miles, combined cycle.
